Changing computer name in OSX?

How does one change the computer name that is added during installation of the OS without reinstalling it?

do you mean the one for network and file sharing?
in your system preferences see "sharing" and there you can change computer name and randezvous name as well.

In Preferences Panes the Internet & Network section in the Sharing pane. The top two boxes are your computer name.
