I recently installed Bochs (a free pc emulation program) to run windows 95 on. However it can installed with Linux on it. Now I own a Linux PC running Red Hat Linux 8 on it and by comparing the two Bochs is a very stripped down version. What I mean is, I can't get disks to mount and over half of the everyday Linux commands don't exist in Bochs.
But my question is, how do I install DOS (for starters) on Bochs. If Bochs runs Linux then wouldn't the HD image be linux native formatted and not DOS FAT formatted? When I asked someplace else, I was told to get FreeDOS. Does anybody know how to use FreeDOS as far as installing it, running Windows on it, etc.?

Help with PC emulator

FreeDOS is DOS as supported by the open source community, especially after M$ stopped their support for their version of DOS. You can find it at:
http://www.freedos.org/
It functions the same as previous version of DOS, with some enhancements for newer systems.
But you also need to understand the PC Emulators are not actually PCs. There are commands in both DOS and Linux which use hardware calls to system hardware components. These components are emulated under DOS and therefore some commands will not work with the emulator software. There is not fix for this, though sometimes one can find a work around.
