double clicking

If I try to launch an image in Preview by double clicking the file from the desktop, Preview opens the file and either quits after a few seconds, or when I move the mouse, or when I click on the Menu Bar(this does not happen all the time, double clicking sometimes works 50/50). I am also experiencing similar problems double clicking PSD files. Photoshop 7 opens, and just before opening, closes(this does not happen all the time, double clicking sometimes works 50/50).

Have you tried connecting a different mouse?

it only happens (as far as I have noticed) with two (2) applications.
