on my pc, i have a logitech cam and i like to send video email to my father (he is 84 and gets tickled seeing me talk to him) I am thinking of buying an isight.
That said... the logitech software, records the vid and then compresses the hell out of it with wma compression.....and i hate to say it, but i will.. the compression is SPECTACULAR.
That said.. is there a way to easily record video either with my usb cam to test or with an isight(which i really don't want to buy unless i KNOW it is going to work.) I know i can get usb driers for my cam.. but what would you use to do the capture.. imovie won't with usb.. and even if it did.. that is a lot of hasstle to make a quick vid email
It really boggles my mind that a platform that gears itself towards multimedia...and now sells their own firewire cam... has NOT created a quick video email program...
anyway to do it with quicktime? any thoughts anyone?
cheers

I believe the free QuickTime Broadcaster will do the trick. It has a "Record to disk" option when you start a broadcast, and you can choose what compression you want to use, etc.
