Well........
Do you mean "Safari"? That's Apple's browser. I'm using it to type this message right now. It rocks. It's the best browser on the planet, in my humblest of opinions.
My only guess is that a lot of people on this forum need lessons in spelling, typing, and grammar. "Safai", I guess, is just the wrong spelling of "Safari".
Because I've lived in America, specifically the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and I've never heard anyone, anywhere, anytime, ever use the word "Safai". I just graduated from high school, so if it is in fact part of the American lingo, it's never made it all the way to Philadelphia.
Blimey, to be honest, I have no idea wot the bloody 'ell it means.
/forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
So don't worry. As an English gal, you're not missing out on any lingo.
All you're missing out on over there is driving on the right side of the road.
And as a side note, I couldn't imagine driving on the left side of the road, with the steering wheel on the right side of the car. It boggles the mind. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Safari is a web browser, put out by Apple. It is quite good and very fast. It is a free download for OSX only. You can download it at http://www.versiontr...fo/macosx/17743

Cheers buddy for the advice!
As you know us UK gal's can't sppeell as we have an IQ of about 10 - 20! Can you imagine how bad it is for me... not only am I British, but I am female (last time I looked), thick as sht AND have to cope with driving on the wrong side of the road!
All I wish is that one day I come to my senses and realise that the education I received from England has no comparison to the intelligence of you and your fellow Americans!
Every day I realise that If I grew up in the USA I would be earning a fortune: either as a plastic surgeon, presenting a talk show like Jerry Springer (wasn't he Mayor of Sinsinatte once?) or running for governer of California like Arnie ("I will be backed")!
And as a side note...
I noticed you have 2423 posts on this forum which tells me you really need to get away from your great life in the USA and come to the UK. Now I think about it, you could become a professor and not only teach us how to spell (especially words like color) but we could learn your language! Oh dear I forgot there for a moment...you yanks speak English!
p.s... Great reply you sent - just like our humour over here....very dry! It made me giggle! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

/forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif That's OK, a lot of people in America can't spell, either. That, or they're too lazy to type correctly. Or quite possibly both. You should see the e-mails I get from some kids at my school--the spelling errors are enough to make you cringe.

Actually, I learned in History class that the British drive on the left side of the road because that's the way people used to joust, all those years ago. Americans drive on the right side of the road because when the country was founded, we were sort of at odds with Great Britain (you know, something-or-other about a Revolutionary War), so we naturally didn't want to do anything the way the British did. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Now we're all good buddies, but since everyone here's used to their old habits, nobody's changing.

Well, we aren't that smart. Believe me, I know a lot of dumb kids. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif But actually, a lot of people I know think of British people as being smart. I think it's the accent--it makes you sound more sophisticated. Don't ask me why.

Oh, I'd love to travel to Britain. I'm going to try to study abroad there, maybe during my junior year in college. Villanova, where I'm starting in the fall, has a good study abroad program, so I'm going to see if I can participate in it. I think Engineering students like myself have the option to spend some time in Britain, so I'm definitely going to look into that.
Hey, maybe I can do a semester at Hogwarts, with Harry Potter! Let's see, I just have to get to King's Cross station and run at the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I have the funny feeling that the Mods are going to lock down this topic, since it has absolutely nothing to do with the Mac, so if you want, just reply to this via a PM. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Thanks.

As long as we're all off-topic...

True...and then they spread the practice to the Empire, with the result that Aussies, Kiwis, Indians, Pakistanis, South Africans and so forth have adopted the same practice. So do the Japanese, although they were never a British possession. And even Sweden drove on the left until the mid-1960s, when they switched literally overnight. I'm told the chaos was memorable, even with a temporary nationwide speed limit for the switch that was somewhere around 20 miles per hour.
And now, I'm off to make a proper cup of tea before the mods lock this topic forever...

The Mods??? You mean this board is run by English trendies from the 60's who zip around on scooters? Quadraphenia was a good movie...

Well, since we are totally off topic now, and just waiting for a mod. to shut us up, I might as well pipe in too. No one knows for sure why people drive on whichever side of the road, although the popular theory is almost as you learned in class.
Brits jousted on the right (a la American drivers), not left. Knights carried their jousts in their right arms (sword arms), and slung them over to the left. Brits did however walk along the left side of a lane (supposedly), as their shield arm is typically the left, which allowed for defense against anything coming from the woods, and a sword arm or handshake to people coming down the path.
Everywhere in the world, including in Britain, people shake with their right hands, and all boats keep to the right. Cars are the anomaly. While Brits expanded the left-hand side thing, it is supposed that Napoleon (sp) ordered his troops to march on the right, and this practice was adopted in France and all the countries he conquered.
America was originally a bunch of colonies from different countries, and people drove on both sides of the road initially. I have no idea why America adopted right-hand-drive. After that was decided, steering wheels on the left were decided to be the standard so drivers could see farther down the road.
Today, about twice as many countries are right-hand drive as are left-hand drive. Perhaps this explains Apple's one button mouse in some way?

By the way, did we ever resolve the "Safai" thing?

I think you meant to say "right-SIDE drive" and "left-SIDE drive." Otherwise, an excellent and informative post in this totally OT thread. [Edit] In reality, this still needs further clarification. To make sure it's clear, I should have said "twice as many counties drive on the right side of the road as drive on the left."

Yes, exactly, my mistake. Although, to play the semantics, it would actually be "twice as many countries require that their citizenry and other people drive on the right-hand side of the road than drive on the left-hand side of the road."
And to keep things on topic, "Go OSX"!

Perhaps it does...it might also explain why Windows keeps their icons by default against the left side of the screen while the Mac traditionally uses the right side!
I was thinking that in countries that drive on the left, right turns must be more difficult to make then left turns. Over here in the US, right turns are much easier than left turns, because you don't have to cross opposing traffic.
Hmmm...can you do left turns on red in the UK?

Where did you get "twice as many" countries drive on the right as on the left? I would have guessed it was more than twice as many, but then I have no idea which side of the road African countries use.
Also, not everyone in the US drives on the right. A lot of farmers drive in the middle. So do some nonfarmers.
