I have been given a powerpoint presentation. I need to extract the text and the images (Some of these are logo's, so I presume they were illustrator eps's), so i can use these for HiRes output. Is there a way I can do this. What should I look out for? And how can I improve quality for print if i have to?
it will then be placed in quark pages for final print (cmyk)

The best way to extract images from PowerPoint is from within PowerPoint itself--the Save As command allows you to export slides as TIFF files. Most people don't use particularly hi-res inputs when creating PowerPoint presentations, though, and they often don't embed the graphics files properly. So even if you set the Save As TIFF settings for a very hi=res output, you're constrained by the quality of the original.
The quick and dirty method I've used for charts, graphs & illustrations is to zoom in on wjat I need on a PowerPoint page and take a screen shot. A few minutes in Photoshop often results in something decent. It's not a good technique to try with p[hotos, though.

You can also copy the images from powerpoint and paste into photoshop, then save into whatever format you need. It doesn't make things any clearer, but I have to do this all of the time from Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
MJlogan's answer is the best. The newer versions of poweproint do a much better job of creating those .pict .tif and .jpeg files. Just make sure you select the options and get the best quality beofre you do the save.
