My PB G4 has a combo drive capable of reading (but not writing) DVDs. A friend of mine has a DVD burner and he uses a PC. However, my computer cannot read the DVDs he burns. My drive would eject the disk after a few seconds.
How can I retify this problem? He tried it on his PC and it worked fine...
Thanks in advance.

not all DVD recorder manufacturers have accepted the same standard format for recordable DVDs, so depending on your friend's drive, that disc may not work for anyone but him. does anyone know about cross-compatibilty between Mac and PC using supposedly the same format (e.g. DVD-R, RAM, etc.)?

The burner which comes with Windows XP will burn CDs , and so probably DVDs as well, in a format which is not compatible with Macs, by default. If the CD is burned with ISO 9660 as the standard, then there is no problem. Check with your friend and see if his burning software will allow him to choose a different format.
