Need a good virus description source

I'm looking for a site where I could find descriptions of viruses and their symptoms.

Typing "virus information" into Google turns up several good sites, including Symantec, Network Associates, McAfee, Sophos, and F-secure.

Any recommendations as to which virus software is best? I purchased a used Mac G3 333mhz that's running OS X.2.5.
