Hi folks!
I just got a new PowerBook and already had a QuickSilver, plus a few PCs. The QS has two drives, the second just for media storage and access. I can access all drives etc. from the PB on either the PCs or QS. No problems there. I can also access everything from the PCs. The problem is the PB seems to only recognize certain types of files. For example Packages and Digital Performer files. If I copy one of those over to the PB, or simply browse to them in Finder, they appear as documents. I'm new to Mac's, but I'm thinking it's not recognizing the forks. I'm using Samba shares over ethernet. I'm sure I'm probably missing something simple here, but what that is I don't have a clue.
Any ideas?

If the file type is specific to one program, and that program is not installed on your PB, then you will only see a generic icon. With out the software installed, your PB doesn't know what to make of that file type.
