What is the point of releasing an update that does more harm than good? I mean I saw it in the software update and installed it and now regret doing so. What version should I be running? Is it possible to step backwards? Lastly if it is possible will it fix the battery problem common to 10.2.8?

I spoke to Apple today about it (my 12" PB's battery is only half alive), and they told that for some people it helped downgrading, but not for all. The only way to downgrade is to do an "Archive and Install". and upgrade up to 10.2.6.

The 10.2.8 upgrade has been pulled from the Apple website. I had heard that the update caused problems with some peoples ethernet systems, so I guess there were a bunch of bugs in the update so it has beeen pulled. I would go back to 10.2.6 and wait until Panther

I have installed 10.2.8 on the day it was up on my iBook. It seems everything is working fine! What are the problems you guys are referring to?

I installed it the day it was posted on Software updater, and it has not been a problem for me in my 15" G4 Powerbook. BUT I only connect to the internet via an Airport hub.

The cynic in me says: Was it Ben Franklin who said, "Never an early adopter be?" There's also the folk-saying, "the early (adopter) bird gets all the bugs."
Really: Let other people be the beta testers, wait at least a few days before installing anything. That also applies to the patch that will come out eventually.
