is it possible to install linux on the mac? or would that breach some kind of copyright agreement or warranty or something? And if so would you be able to reak the benefits of it like being able to run Linux/PC programs on the mac or even play games, i'm probably way ahead of myself, and have no idea what i'm talking about but still is it possible?

Oh yeah 100% I run Linux on my Mac. I run Yellow Dog Linux and Mandrake Linux
To download these go to this site Linuxiso PPC section Here you will find the breads that run on PPC architecture (they will run on a mac) But don't get LinuxPPC since their project unfortunately stopped running /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif But the best are Mandrake or Yellow Dog. So go with either one. The only main thing that sux about this, is the procedures of installing Linux. It's mainly the fact that you will have to repartition your HD. So that there is a UNIX FileSystem partition (which is were you Linux OS will be installed) and the Mac behalf HFS+ (Mac OS Extended) Now once this is done you can install Mac OS X and then Linux.
But first be-sure to back up data and make sure your computer can boot off the first CD (the one with the boot ladder), remember the CD must be formated as an ISO (cd image)
If help is needed post again, enjoy the other OS's of PPC

Tom, I think you forgot to mention the most important thing about running Linux on a Mac. It's not going to let you run programs that have already been compiled for an x86 machine (which most Linux games are). It needs to have been compiled for PPC or be the source code that you can compile yourself.
Many Linux programs will run on a Mac running Linux, but many also run within OS X. Take a look at Fink. It will install many Linux programs into OS X for use in tandem with either Apple's X11 app or XDarwin.
Maybe if you went into more detail, we could tell you if it was feasible.
