PS I was pissed when, after installing and beginning play, the sound hickuped frequently when I was doing other things. I then noticed that it was normalizing the volume of my 1200 tracks in the background. Whew! Plays fine now.

the smart playlist and rating feature is nice but i dont think its enough to warrant a full version jump.
if this is 3, then i guess the full AAC support is 4, and that rendezvous feature coming next year is 5.
can't wait till i can encode my own AAC files via itunes.

It is perfect for organizing the musical files. In the past, I had to change the names of the songs in both the iTunes and on the hard disk. Now they are automatically synchronized (I don't remember if I turned on that option, but it is there). The most recently played list and top 25 most played list are wonderful. (You can adjust them, by the way, like, top 50 or instead of songs from the past 2 weeks, you can change the date or the number of songs to be included in those constantly updated list).
I think it warrants a full upgrade to 3.0 from 2.0.
