Another thing -- it may just be my imagination, but I think the new version's audio output level is higher than the previous versions. I have my Powerbook connected to my home theater receiver and it seems like i don't have to turn it up as loud as I used to. Might be the volume normalizer thing, but it is the same for CDs as well. Cheers!

PS I was pissed when, after installing and beginning play, the sound hickuped frequently when I was doing other things. I then noticed that it was normalizing the volume of my 1200 tracks in the background. Whew! Plays fine now.

Is it just me, or did they change the color of some things from pink to blue? Like the music note in the icon? Or the text of a highlighted playlist?

Just curious images/icons/smile.gif

i'm kind of confused about this half-ass suport of mp4/aac files in itunes3. it will let me add mp4's to my library, and play them, without having to change the extension to .mov first.. but it doesn't recognise the bitrate or any other info.

since it obviously now supports mp4 playback.. why not go all out? and why not announce it officially? hmm

like other users have said, i think this itunes release was more like a version 2.5 than an all-out 3.

the smart playlist and rating feature is nice but i dont think its enough to warrant a full version jump.

if this is 3, then i guess the full AAC support is 4, and that rendezvous feature coming next year is 5.

can't wait till i can encode my own AAC files via itunes.

I just downloaded and installed iTunes 3 and am now using it. It IS awesome!

It is perfect for organizing the musical files. In the past, I had to change the names of the songs in both the iTunes and on the hard disk. Now they are automatically synchronized (I don't remember if I turned on that option, but it is there). The most recently played list and top 25 most played list are wonderful. (You can adjust them, by the way, like, top 50 or instead of songs from the past 2 weeks, you can change the date or the number of songs to be included in those constantly updated list).

I think it warrants a full upgrade to 3.0 from 2.0.

An other idea I sent to Apple last year:

make an interface with a world map for the radio stations: click on a country to zoom in on that country, then click on a city or region to get a list of local stations.....
