I noticed that my local Apple store is selling Sony ear plugs that are compatible with the iPod. I think the plugs go for about $30.00.
Are the plugs any good ?
Thanks !!!

I love my Sony's also. I went johnrigby's eBay route and got the white pair (sold in Japan only). What's nice is that they come with a short cord and an extension cord -- but the short cord is perfect for use with the remote. At least the pair I bought a year ago had the short cord. There are a few models.

there are many threads on the subject on this forum.
the sonys (EX71! not 70) are ok but there's better.
to make things simple the best out there are Etymotic ER4P (around $269)
for more knowledge check out the Head-Fi Forums or headphone.com
