Well this is it. Wintel laptop has finally crashed. I was on the net(2 sites up) and watching a movie when it froze. Being the wintel user I accepted this and shut my computer down. I ent to turn it back on and nothing happened. The power light came on and the CD ROM spun but that was it.
I am now going to go out and find a job and buy a Mac. I cant take this windows world anymore!! (I wrote this while cream ing and bashing head on my desk)

Thanks. When I get a job, I will be making payments on a 17'' iMac. By the time I have a job, hopefully Panther will be standard... or I might spring for an upgrade depending on the situation /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Just to wet your lips you should check out the Apple Store in Indianapolis (or whichever one is closest to you) if you haven't already. Not a reseller, but the real thing.

Love costs.
I have little, but somehow, when I spend what I have at apple, I am always satisfied. Today I downloaded four of Sarah Mclachlan's new songs, bought a few others, and how have a wonderful playlist I will listen to for years. And I bought that before I saw Steve Jobs and Sarah Mclachlan on Quicktime.
Same with my imac and ipod. Love costs, but it is what counts in the end I think.
And I say that having to make the decision soon to either get panther or get some dental care.
I had windows me, and it let me know that I was a slave to Bill Gates. Mac's OS X lets me know Steve Jobs is listening to me. Well, you know what I mean.

I was running PCs as my main systems until June 2000. I had some VERY important work on that machine (billing software), and as I went to submit, my machine crashed. Windows was toast. I recovered whatever files I could from a DOS screen, and promptly bought a G4. That was the third time in a year I've had a PC crash on me. Needless to say, it really pissed me off. I spent $1600 on that G4 400MHz, and it was a great machine. Upgraded it to an 800MHz processor, and just replaced it with a G5 last month.
At first, I still had PC software that I used. I bought VirtualPC, which ran just well enough for it to be barely usable with a 400MHz G4. After about 6 months, I got my hands on replacement software for those PC apps (mostly it was MS stuff).
There are definite differences between PCs and Macs (obviously). OS 9 ran like a dream on that processor, whereas OS X (bought it right when it came out) ran like crap compared to OS 9. Don't get me wrong, it was usable. But it wasn't nearly as smooth as OS 9. My G5 handles OS 10 like a champ: everything is very smooth and fluid, like it was with a PC or with OS 9. If you can afford extra bucks, I HIGHLY recommend a G5. It's a great machine, light years ahead of a 1GHz G4. The difference is only $200, and the performance increase is spectacular.
