According to Macworld's December issue guide to Panther, you basically don't need third-party software like Backup anymore. At least, that is what I gather from the article.

Hmm, you still need backup software; not sure what you think the article was implying, but journaling just makes it less likely that the disk will have an error. You still need to create backups in the event of catastrophic failure or user error /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't have my December issue with me, but maybe JohnnyA is referring to the backup capabilities built into the Disk Utility in Panther (which makes bootable backups, like CCC).
