Hi,
does anybody know how I can tell the application "Finder" to change the setting from "Full Finder" to "Simple Finder" ?
There is an account type called "Simple Finder" which creates a very simplified Finder with pretty much no access to anything and a specified Dock. I don't like the Dock settings. So what I want to do is to use a "Some Limits" account, customize the Dock in the account and then use a script during login to change the Finder settings to the simplified Finder. This way I will have a customized Dock with a Finder that does not give any access to anything else but what is in the Dock. With a Simple Finder not even somebody with a "no limits" account will have more access right then what he/she can access via the Dock.
That should then be the ultimate bullet prove account for a toddler with a nice and colorful Dock.
If you know how to write such a script please let me know.

i don't think you need a script. here's what i'd do if i had a toddler:
1. create toddler's account
2. go into toddler's account and edit the permissions of the hard drive to keep him from doing anything to it.
3. (optional) change the icon of his hard drive to something of interest, a farm animal, for instance.

Panther has options for this in the Users Preference Pane.
