I originally posted this in another forum, but realized tis was the proper place:
I read that one could modify an AirPort base station with their own antena to increase their wireless coverage. I know you can buy stuff aftermarket to accomplish this, but i would like to hear if anyonee has done this modification on their own and what their experience has been. What kind of extended coverage can you get? Is it worth it since you will probably void the warranty? Is it fairly simple? I don't remember where i read this, so if you have a link to an article about it, that would be helpful too. If this subject has already been covered, please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Either Macworld or MacAddict did a 'how to' article on doing your own antenna hack - some time in 2003. Complete with photos.
Or you can have it done commercially. http://maccentral.ma...t=1070287024000
But it's very pricey that way.
How effective it would be depends on how good the antenna is, and your home's walls, distances you want to span, sources of interference, etc. Very hard to tell.

yeah, search google. it's out there. It takes a dremel tool and some shopping around for the right antenna connector. I was thinking about doing it, but then i realized that the problem is my stupid Titanium PowerBook can't get reception anywhere anyways. Other computers get the same signal nice and strong, and my PowerBook is disconnecting left and right.
