A tip for iTunes playlists

This may be obvious, so it's probably for newbies such as myself. I was using "dumb" playlists sorted by genre, and didn't realize I could easily create smart playlists for the same thing. The key is that you can select multiple tracks at a time to change the genre, so you can sort by artist and then do it. Also, you can define your own custom categories. Now I can just change the genre for new songs added, since I'll usually forget and then do them a bunch at a time, and they'll show up in the smart playlist. Gotta love iTunes, now I just need an iPod! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Something else that is pretty cool is you can put keywords into the comment fields like "live" or "acoustic" and create smart playlists this way as a subgenre.

Or you could use iTunes built in genre browser by going to preferences and under the general tab, check the box 'Show genre when browsing'. No need to create playlist for each genre - iTunes has done it for you!
