Recently my PowerBook G3 has had some strange things happening and I am in need of some advice.... (OX 10.2)
First, ALL of my bookmarks in Explorer disappeared. Gone.
Then all of my adddress book entries disappeared.
I have tried to repair permissions, used Disk Warrior, Norton and Drive 10. Anyone know of another way I can find the missing addresses and bookmarks? (I PROMISE to back them up if I ever get them back....) I'm at the end of my rope. It is just too strange. I reinstalled my OS X on the PowerBook in hopes of solving the strange behavior, so I archived the previous system, however the problem occurred before I did this. (And now I cannot use the software updater to update to OS 10.2.8..I just get an error message about halfway through trying to install.) Thus anything lost was probably lost before I reinstalled....ANY ideas? I am really more upset about all of my e-mail addresses than the bookmarks, however I would love to find both if possible... Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? (Sorry, old reference to a great movie....)
Thanks in advance for the ideas.....

not sure, but here is how to avoid loss of bookmarks and addressbook
Use Safari. If you hate it then use IE and have no way to back up bookmarks.
Get a .Mac account. Use iSync to sync your Safari bookmarks and address book entries to your iDisk. Now if you lose them somehow you can sync with your iDisk and get them all back. I Synce at work and at home everyday (before I leave work, once I get home, right beore I go to bed, and then when I go to work again). That way I keep my home and work computers identical - address book is identical and both comps have all my bookmarks, orgainized identical. This along with the backup application and iDisk is why I thing .Mac is worth the price.
