okay, I need help here.
I recently bought a Vaio TR2A. As far as I know its one of the newest Vaios. here are its specs.
1ghz centrino
40gb hard drive
built in digital/web cam
cd-rom/cd-rw
windows xp pro
7 hours battery life (i'm absolutely amazed at that!)
about 3 lbs and super slim and tiny (love that)
I bought it because I'm a web designer and I'm frustrated with the performance of the flash plug-in on the mac platform. I do all my designing from my cube but its difficult to gage flash performance on my mac because flash seems to slow down dramtically. I know part of the problem is the plug-in that macromedia releases for the mac. So I bought this Sony laptop so I can surf the internet and test flash projects. As I use windows more and more, I'm finding that I really hate it. I'm thinking about returning my Vaio and getting a 15" Powerbook. They are around the same price. I guess I just need advice on what you all think I should do. How is flash performance on your Powerbooks? What do you think I should do?

Flash is, as you stated, crappy and slow on a Mac when compared to a Wintel. If you are designing Flash projects and need to test them on a Wintel, get the cheapest Wintel you can, since Flash works the same on all of them.
I can't understand why you bought a Vaio just because of the Flash plug in, but whatever. I may have to test on a Windows computer, but I sure don't have to develop on one!

i bought a vaio because I often have to be wireless. since portability is also an issue for me, a laptop that light and powerful was a good buy. So again, are the newer powerbooks any better with flash now-a-days or should I just stick with my vaio until the plug-in is better since it won't matter how fast my mac is?

I am in the same situation but I will get the mac for all the other things that I need a Mac for... Macromedia needs to get their act together with the mac side... look at Studio MX 2004 and its slow runing... I use a Wintel computer to test all my web design projects for this reason. Get the 15 inch powerbook... that would be my choice. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Well, in case you don't know, Macs do wireless, and Apple's laptops are just as portable and powerful as Sony's. Flash on Macs is inferior however. For testing while on the go, I usually just grab someone's Wintel laptop. After all, what's 95% market share good for if you can't find a test mule every now and then?
If you are seriously into Flash, stick with the Viao. A bird in the hand...
