I am no longer able to print in Classic from any application (running 10.2.8 on a OS 9-bootable 933 MHz G4 PowerPC). This problem was first noticed and is the most frustrating in Quark 4.11. I am able to open the print dialogue screen, but when I hit "Printers" or any of the other options, I get "LaserWriter 8 cannot be used because of an internal error -5751." Our printer is an HP LaserJet 9000n.
I've repaired permissions, deleted all relevant preference files, run DiskWarrior and Tech Tool, and reinstalled the OS 9.2.2 update ... nothing's worked. I can still print from all apps in native OSX.
This is a tremendously frustrating problem. Any ideas are much appreciated.

Which version of Laserwriter 8 are you using? It should be 8.7.1. If not you may need to update to the latest Laserwriter 8 extension.
If that does not work, or if you are already at the current LW8 extension, try deleting the laserwriter 8 preferences (located in the Printing Prefs folder in the OS 9 system folder). Or if you would like, simply move it out of the preferences folder, that way if this does not work you don't have to re set up all your printers, just put the folder back.
You may also have a "Printmonitor documents" folder located directly in the System folder, delete this too.
Start up in 9 with extensions disabled (hold the shift key down at startup)
Delete any desktop printers.
If you have the latest drivers for your printer, replace the ones you currently have with them, otherwise download new drivers and use them.
Lastly hold COMMANDOPTIONP+R until the computer chimes at least 3 times. This is "zapping the PRAM"
(you may have to reset the date/time and/or the AppleTalk control panel settings after performing this step).

Fixed! It actually came down to deleting LaserWriter 8 preferences in Classic printing prefs folder. I did a Find for "LaserWriter 8" and deleted the rogue file. I get the impression that it was created in error as subsequent searches have only showed the correct one in the OS 9 System folder.
Thanks for your help.
