I can't see this happening, but how about the people at Apple talk to the people of Nintendo about porting some of the Big N's top games to the Mac. It would be great for the Macintosh platform as a whole, and not just for game enthusiasts to be able to purchase and play games such as Zelda - Wind Waker, Metriod Prime and various Mario games on the Mac.
From Apple's perspective, they would then have quality entertainment titles on the Mac that wouldn't be available for Wintel. Now all of a sudden the Mac can be seen, as a bit more of a compelling platform over that of the ubiquitous Windows in terms of games. Exclusivity is the name of the game here, folks, and this gives Apple a bit more of a chance of increasing market-share by attracting consumers, albeit predominantly children, who value quality games in their decision when purchasing a computer.
On Nintendo's side they would be able to extend the life span of some of their top games that are approaching (or are at) 'budget bin' status for the Game Cube and raise a bit more revenue for their company.
Unfortunately, this wont happen for a variety of reasons. For starters, Jobs and Co at Apple don't seem to rate 'games' with any sort of importance in their strategy in selling computers and just leave this aspect of the business to handle itself. This is more than reasonable, as a Game Cube is a fraction of the price of a Mac and people can spend that small amount of for a games machine, but, as I mentioned earlier, games do play a role in the purchase decision of many People when considering which computer to buy and exclusive quality titles that the Industry knows of will at least generate some positive publicity for the Mac and pique the interest of gamers and the Mac as a games platform. The second reason is that Nintendo are very protective of their 'creations' and feel that by 'extending' them out onto anything but a Nintendo product will devalue them and the company's reputation and image as a whole. There are also issues (primarily costs) of having to reprogrammed parts of these titles so they work on Apple's hardware properly -- and take advantage of all they offer -- and they may not see this as worthwhile - particularly with Apple's 5% market share. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Still to be able to play a top Nintendo game on a (high-resolution) monitor, with near unlimited capacity to save games, easy-to-use online and LAN play (through Rendezvous) as well as the possibility of playing music from iTunes as the theme music in a Nintendo game is very exciting indeed. And that is before we consider the higher power and RAM capacity of Macs! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Maybe when Jobs is in Japan for the next Apple trade show there, he could talk to the top brass of Nintendo about the possibility of porting some games to the Mac.
It's a bit of a stretch, but there is a bit of a link between Nintendo and Apple -- apart from the respective minor shares of their markets of course. From the impression I have, Nintendo's Game Cube CPU runs on a variation on the PowerPC G3 from IBM called Gecko. It's an interesting link and certainly one that could compel Nintendo to serious considers porting games to the Mac. Well here's dreaming - /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

How about porting some Nintendo games?

Interesting, but highly doubtful. Why would Nintendo port games to the Mac? They'd make much more money on a PC...doing it just for the Mac would be a waste of time, money, and resources.
Besides, you can already play Nintendo games on a Mac, and it works great. Not legal unless you already own the game, but...
