Hey guys--
I had to switch back to iChat 1.0 since the AV beta expired, and I've hit a snag regarding my buddy icon. Namely, I can't change the thing. I drag a new picture in, and the picture that was there won't change to the new picture. It'll let me size the picture, etc., but after I click OK, it refuses to change it.
It's driving me nuts.
Eventually, when I upgrade to Panther, I'll be rid of this bug, but I was wondering if you guys had a solution...

When you upgrade ichat A/V, do you think the .plist got corrupted when you updated, since the application will uses the same .plist

I don't know...iChat 1.0 did this before I updated to AV, and it's doing it again now that I'm at 1.0.
The actual buddy icon does changeI've IM'ed myself from another screenname on my PC, and I see the icon that I want. The changes just aren't reflected in the iChat window.
As long as other users get the right icon, I don't mind that muchjust a bit of a nuisance that I can't see my right icon. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just on the off chance: What type of buddy icon are you trying to install? e.g. is it a .jpg .tiff .gif ?

Tried JPG, PDF, PICT...just haven't had any luck getting it to change in the iChat window.
People that chat with me see the icon I want them to seeI just keep seeing the old one. Weird.

iChat AV handles icons differently than iChat 1. iChat AV uses pics like jpgs, while 1 uses icons and icon extensions in picture files. If you want to use your old pic as an iChat 1 icon, get Pic2Icon and just convert it, then highlight the file with the icon you want and do this: ctrl-i, tab, ctrl-c, ctrl-w (to copy the icon and close the window) and then go to iChat, select the default icon so its "lit up" and ctrl-v to paste in your icon.
BTW, people see your old one b/c you haven't sent a new one to their computers.
