Hi..Hope somebody might know why 90% of ~/Library/Preferences say Open with: OmniOutliner (default) and the other 10% + say Open with TextEdit when doing a Get Info on each .plist? I've never even used OmniOutliner. Or is this normal? Just seems odd since running OSX for just a year. Thanks for any help

That's because OmniOutliner can open .plist files. This feature is even listed in OmniOutliner's help (Advanced Topics -> Importing from Other Applications).
This is probably due to their regular format (a subset of XML).

Hi d00d,
Thanks for the info. Had NO idea, after reading the Help menu, and your post, how 'powerful' that sucker is. These are the things I eat-up to learn about OSX, and others I presume. BTW..happened to stop by the Apple Store and peeked (played) w/ a few of their towers and all had OmniOutliner as (default) in their list of .plist files. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Omnigroup's applications are wonderful. I'm a huge fan of OmniGraffle myself. Not sure why they'd have OmniOutliner as the default for .plist files. I think it only imports them and Apple's own Property List Editor (part of the Developer's tools) is much more suited to the task.
