Hi
Let's not start this again. Maybe a mini seems overpriced to you but to some it seems just fine or even great. Remember, Apple made the mini to contend with PC models.
What does the mini offer?
A very reasonable amount of space for most users
Smaller size
Lighter weight
I would assume much more scratch resistant...At least compared to the shiny metal backs of the regular models.
USB charging
Colors
...Anything I'm forgetting /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I personally also believe the regular iPod to suit my needs better for the price but that doesn't mean it is the opinion of the majority.
EDIT: Corrected my made (previously maid) spelling. DOH!
MacCheetah3
Apple PowerBook G4 Titanium 1GHz, 1GB, 60GB, SuperDrive, Airport, Mac OS X
Apple Power Mac G4 Sawtooth 400MHz, 768MB, 80GB, DVD, Mac OS X
15GB iPod

Well said!
We all need to keep in mind that the iPod line targets a different user than the iPod mini. And, trying to make people feel badly about an Apple purchase that suits their needs just isn't cool.

NOW I'M REALLY UPSET.
First my 10G 1st gen iPod died this week, no AppleCare available since it's 1.5 years old, & Apple wants $249 to replace it with only a 90 day warranty.
Yesterday we bought a 40G from the Apple Store to replace it.
Today I find out there's a 10% discount available only today or tomorrow!
AAARRRGGGHHH!

Instead of being angry and posting here, get your ass into the Apple store for a price adjustment. You have ten days but the promotion in store ends tomorrow. Actually I was just in the Costa Mesa CA store today and the sign said it ends today. So I would go today.

I went back to the Apple Store on Sunday after seeing the fine print about the ten days on the back of the invoice. The person at the counter turned me down! Said it only applied to permanent price changes, not sales. Offered to take it back as a return & sell it to me again to get the sale price, BUT if I had opened it I was subject to a $50 restocking charge! Of course I had opened it--I want to keep it. I firmly asked for the manager. He repeated the same "policy". I went back over my tale of woe, i.e. iPod dying, no AppleCare available, bought a 40G the day before. It is crazy to go thru the charade of a "return" just to get a refund. The store was packed & I think he finally gave me the discount just to shut me up. The refund makes me feel better but wish I didn't have to jump thru hoops.

That sux ass.......Apple is sometimes very good with their service and sometimes it wants to make you punch the guy....myself I have been very lucky with cust. support even though I only had to do it twice in about 8 months. Anyway, inless the price drops lower, I proably won't invest in one for a while. I am not too big on that digital music thing.

Man, I love their Apple's cust. support. I called them like 6 times in 2 weeks, and every time, even if I asked french language, the service they would give me was excellant. But I don't think it's like what everywhere. I called Purolator so they can come and get my iPod. If you guys could hear the girl on the phone .... Even if she was a french, I couldn't understand her. She would stop talking like about 10 sec and get back without any notification.
Yup, sometime we get lucky, sometime not. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
