When I try to burn CD on my 1 Ghz iMac, maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of the time just as the CD finishes and the computer beeps to say that it is complete, an error message comes up that says that there are no volumes readable by mac OS X on the CD. What's going on here?
thanks

Sounds like data corruption, from either the source material or in the burn process itself.
What are your burning and how ?
Data, music, Finder or iTunes or Toast, CD-R or CD-RW, el cheapo cd's or name brand ect....

I'm burning Maxell, but they're a year or two old. Do they age that drastically? I'm burning music w/ iTunes, but it has happened burning files in the finder..
Thanks for your input

Since the disks are a little old, the burner may be writing too fast for what the disks are rated for. I remember a couple years ago when burning music CDs that when I tried to burn at rates faster than 8X on a particular burner I would get an error more often than not so I had to manually drop the speed rate in Toast to correct the problem. the error code was different than what you describe, but at that time I was also in OS9.
