If so, I'd like to hear from you and pick your brain! Please let me know what version you've got and what you do with it. I'd like to compare stories to see if you've done some of the things I want to be able to do. Microsloth is less than helpful...their tech people don't even know how to use their product.

I have VPC v6 running in OS9.2.2 and OS10.2.8. No real difference in speed between the two OS's. VPC is just real slow. Still havn't found how to move files between the Mac side and the PC side.

I do that on a daily basis. Have you set up a shared folder?

Whenever I try to VPC crashes or at least it
spins it's wheels for so long I give up. From what I hear Windows Me
is a dog so maybe it's the OS.

I've used VPC both with OS 9 and X. As far as transferring files, I have always had no problem just dragging files and folders between the Win and Mac desktops. They copy in both directions. No "sharing folder" or any other sharing settings are on in either side.
I almost feel like there is something I'm not getting here because transferring is so simple. Let me know if you want more details.

Johnny:
I'm still using VPC 4, and that may be why I am required to have a shared folder to transfer files. I am also using Win98, and as almaink uses WinME, that also could be part of the difference. I've never heard anything good about WinME myself, maybe that's why Microsloth came out with WinXP. It seems to me that ME wasn't out that long when MS introduced XP.
Anyway, back to the original topic: do you two print from VPC? If so, what kind of printers do you have hooked up? Are either of you using your VPC on a network?

Maybe they need to run a PC program or two.

You're kidding, right? Uh, because you are working with someone who uses Microsoft aps and you don't have hours to reformat files and docs that aren't completely compatible...I haven't needed to run Virtual PC, but without Office, I would not be able to work in the real world...

So does Virtual PC work with 9.2.2?
Does Windows XP run fine on it?

I have to be able to open AutoCAD drawings, and the best way to be able to do that is to be able to run some version of AutoCAD. Virtual PC lets us run AutoCAD 2000 LT, and we make our customers happy because they can email us drawings, rather than have to print them out and fax or mail them. It helps us because faxed drawings always come to us in pieces, and they don't paste together well. Besides that, if they've been reduced (which they often have) you often can't read any of the text when they've been faxed.
I've explored MAC options for CAD programs, but none of the demos have done very satisfactory jobs of open .dwg files, if they'll open them at all. I'd love to be able to ditch Windows but in my line of work, Macs are as rare as hen's teeth. As to other MS programs, I actually loved their Works suite, when it was available for Mac.

Once in the VPC enviroment I can't move my curser out of the VPC window. How can I drag a file over if I can't even move the curser out of VPC?

I also have no problem dragging files in and out of VPC. OK, almost no problem. Sometimes it says an error occurred and I can only clear it up by restarting Windows.
If you can't move the mouse outside VPC, is VPC in full screen mode? If full screen is off, you can move the mouse outside the VPC window.
Other than that, cross-platform drag and drop & folder sharig won't work if the Virtual PC Additions are out of date or missing. The 6.0 help file says:
"The features provided by the Virtual PC Additions include:
Drag and drop
Folder sharing
Integrated mouse
DOS CD-ROM support
Optimized video drivers
Time synchronization between the Mac and the PC
Dock application support"
To answer the other question:
"System Requirements
To run Virtual PC 6.0 for Macintosh, you must have:
a native G3 or G4 Macintosh
running Mac OS 9.2.2
or running Mac OS X 10.1.5
or running Mac OS X 10.2.1 (or later)"
