Thanks, Replicant. Can anyone back up this account for us? Sorry to be such a mooch instead of doing this myself, but like I said, I have to wait for my copy to arrive (and get my $50 discount images/icons/grin.gif ). i'm just afraid of rumor turning into fact without independent confirmation on either side of this issue.

If that's so what's all the discussion??
Can we duplicate this in another laboratory?
Just trying to stay current.I don't have X yet, waiting on a dual gig. How this for an
upgrade. I'm migrating from OS 8.6 on an
366 iMac.

Hello All,
I put some photos on a cd, some in folders some just on the 'top level' and burnt the cd from the finder in 10.2. I sent the disc with my wife who was going into work today, she tried it on her windoze machine. Her machine could see the loose photos and the folders, but it could not open the folders to the photos inside.

I took my home folder which was full of documents and photos and burned them on a disc using disc burner (using jaguar) and put it in my winxp machine and it was fine. it worked like always.

Ok, NOW I see the problem. Files burned onto the CD at root level are fine, but I couldn't open any folders burned onto the CD. The root-level files were able to open their applications on the Win 2000 Pro box (MS Office files).

I tested the issue with a CD-RW I burned in Jaguar. I loaded the CD on my Sony running XP, and just as has been noted here, I could see the root folder, but XP said nothing was in it.

Lovely.

Burned the following files on Mac : Word Document, Excel Document, Corel Draw Document (saved as version 9) and JPEG photos.
Operating systems:
PC - Microsoft XP Home Version
Mac - OS X Version 10.2

Programs on Mac:
Microsoft Office X for Mac
Corel Draw 10 for Mac

Programs on PC:
Microsoft Office XP
Corel Draw 9

All of the files burned to the disk in the Finder to default settings.
All files burned on the Mac opened without ANY unexpected problems (just a font issue)
on the PC.

Welp, I just burned a CD with a folder containing a Web site, and it's here right now on my Sony running XP. I can't open the folder, and I can't copy it over to the Sony's hard drive cuz XP says the thing is locked. Right-clicking doesn't do a thing, as in no menu drops down. List view gives me no information either.

So if it's not a format problem, what is it?

EDIT: I can right-click the CD in My Computer, and what I get under format is CDFS. I hope that's useful.

I have had no such problems and just to test I copied a website I am working on from Dreamweaver MX on OS X... [I just copied the html folder]... and burned it on cd ....copied it to my desktop on the Win XP machine and imported into dreamweaver there, NO ISSUES. I was also able to just open the folder and display the pages in IE 6.

So I have no idea what probs others are having just glad I am not as I go between the two both at home and work all the time.

MC3,

I sent my feedback to Apple, to be sure.

Say,

What the hell. I can't imagine what the problem is. Obviously it's a bug of some sort.

I just burned an application to a CD (PocketPC 2002 ROM Update) and it opened and executed just fine on my dad's Windows xp machine.

I think some of you are either burning corrupt files, have bad discs, or (don't get angry at me) don't know what they're doing on the Windows end.

Apple would not take out this out, since they're marketing the Mac to be cross-platform compatible.
