As for iCal, you want your money back because Apple hasn't released a FREE program yet? I mean, come on. No one ever said iCal would come with Jaguar. I was hoping iCal would be released soon, too, but the reality of Apple's promise is that it states iCal and iSync are coming in September. Unless my calender is incorrect, we're still in August.

Since when is anything from Apple really free? There are many ways that they will recover the costs of their "free" software.

Okay, so by your logic, all Apple software should be free because they "recover [their] costs?" That's frankly absurd.

Irrespective of your skewed view and your apparent need to argue about stupid issues, there is a definite, discernable dichotomy in Apple's software pricing scheme. Some software must be paid for (OSes, Final Cut Pro, Appleworks, etc.) whereas others require no payment (iApps).

In the mean time questions about ink do give a result - being connected to the internet. Last Friday & Saturday I could not find a reference to it.

To come back to my Q about rendez-vous. If you don't launch iChat (which I don't really have much use for since i don't know anybody using AOL) you don't see Rendezvous nor your other system. Both are tightly related and you don't get an option to choose RendezVous without iChat.

Fact is that if you do not enter a .Mac account into the screen the application halts. Based on the machine name it errors "could not load session". After quite some time I found online that you have to manually make a port rule before iChat will not error on you with "could not load session" (next to adding a checkmark regarding the network in the prefs which I had tried to no avail as well as allowing different protocols). One reboot later the system will allow you to launch Rendez Vous from within iChat.

I believe the Apple team could have handled it a little better, a one time only screen when you launch the new application and a minimal of available help would have been nice to get us newbies started.

It was my opinion that I would find a rendez vous application or preference pane and that I would not have to look for a firewall port before I can LAN RendezVous.

There's also some inconsistencies as I do not have bluetooth, but could find that panel on my machine while I could not find ink with a tablet attached.

Where would I find "BackUp", do I need a full .Mac account for that? Or what piece of hardware do I need?

You can download Backup 1.2 from www.mac.com once you've signed up for the full account. I'm pretty sure you need a full account to use it.

Yes, you need to have full .Mac account before you can download & use backup. I know it does not come with the trial account.

Quite a few people think it should be part of Jaguar and not .Mac required, me included.

Not sure what yet will happen when you cancel your .Mac or about using one .Mac for both your notebook & desktop mac.
