Has anyone set up a network with a PC yet? There seems to be know specific info on how to do this.
I called up apple and they told me they don't support that because it is a windows issue.
Go figure??????

Is this with regard to 10.2, or 10.1.x?

I have a network between 4 Macs and 1 PC... It works fine.

Could you give more information? What exactly are you trying to do? Share an internet connection, trasfer a file, or what?

Ok. In OS X go to System Preferences and choose the Sharing panel. In the listbox, enable Windows File Sharing.

Now go back to the original preferences window and choose the Accounts panel. Find your account and hit Edit User. At the bottom, enable the checkbox that says "Allow user to login from Windows."

Done!

Now in Windows, go to My Network Places, and use the 'add a network place wizard'. When you locate your Mac, just drag it to your desktop and voila, you're set.

Oh crap... I just realized you want to do it the other way around. Hold on, I'll figure it out for you.

Ok, here's what you do. It's quite simple. Right click the folder or drive you want to share and choose "Sharing and Security..." In the dialog box that pops up, click the checkbox that says "Share this folder on the network."

Done!

Now in OS X, choose Connect to Server from the Go menu (command-k) and find your PC. Hit connect, enter your username stuff, and you will have it mounted on your desktop.

OK thank you, Just as I thought, I have done all that.
When I go to "connect to server" I have "local" "Workgroup" "Dave network" which of these should show my PC?
Does your PC should itself as a name or IP address?
Also I think there is a Hang over from DAVE 3, I keep getting this message "Dave is not configured proberly"

Download this program - http://shukwit.com/main.php

It does wonders for mounting network drives.

Before doing anything else, you need to remove DAVE from your Mac - the most recent version is not compatible with Jaguar. Detailed removal instructions are found at http://www.thursby.c....lasso?ID=33206 .

Unless "Tuki" has tried it and can confirm it is okay, I suggest you also avoid installing utilities like "SMB Browse" as was recommended - these network utilities were developed pre-Jaguar, and I don't know that it is clear what effect installing them will have on the newer networking software provided in Jaguar.

OK, I deleted DAVE, and I mounted my PC.
Now it won't mount again, when I go to "connect to server" there is only my local server name nothing else, where before I have "workgroup" and "*"
Very strange, and my PC (XP) won't see my mac either. I have used the network wizard???
