I have narrowed my mac choice down to either the 1099 dollar emac with a combo drive a 40 gig hardrive, or the 1499 emac with super drive and 80 gig hard drive... I will be using my mac for alot of video editng with my camcorder...are these good choices if im on a budget, and if is is it worth buying the more expensive emac or would it be a better idea to purchase an external dvd burner??? HELP
thanks for your input

Are you in a country other than the US? I see two eMac models with specs you seem to describe, but they're 799 and 1099 respectively. If you want to use iDVD, get the Superdrive model. As far as I know, iDVD doesn't work with external DVD writers.

It'll take some digging, but starting at the Apple.ca site: click the Store link, click on the Education interest, continue clicking appropriate links until you reach the alternate Apple Store.

If you are going to be editing video, go with the higher end model. The bigger hard drive will be nice and having a Superdrive will definitely make everything easier (rather than going with an external drive later).

I have the 40 gb model that I bought about a year ago. I would recommend that for what you are going to be doing that you get the 80 gb superdrive model. I am at the point where I am going to need an external drive soon. I would also suggest that you max out the RAM.
