Hi,
OK, I recently bought a sony vx2000e which has now become my second wife (which also takes stills onto a memory stick)!! You then take the memory stick out of the camera and insert it into a usb reader/writer + add the driver software and hay presto ... rock on iPhoto............. mm well that's whats meant to happen...
in reality:
i have installed the driver software onto the system folder (restarted computer) as per instructions, connected up the usb reader/writer and inserted the memory card.... BUT NOTHING happens and iPhoto just says 'No Camera Connected'
Arrgghhh! Please help before I throw it out the window!
Cheers
Craig

What memory stick reader are you using? The drivers MAY actually be the issue here...I have a sony digital camera that uses the memory stick and I have used two different manufacturer's media readers and NEVER installed the drivers because my ibook's usb ports have never failed to just read the memory stick reader and load up into iPhoto with no issues...

I would delete the drivers and try the memory stick with the reader again.

I am having a similar problem with my new Panasonic PV-650. It has the sd card. I have 7 still pictures on the card. The G-4 sees there is something plugged into the USB port, but iPhoto doesn't see the camera. I tried the other two software applications included with the camera, with the same "no camera connected" icon.
I was thinking I need drivers for this. I couldn't find anything on the Panasonic site.
I have imported the video via Firewire into iMovie with no problems.
What's up with that?

Try using Image Capture to download the pictures using USB. If that doesn't work, check to see if your camcorder mounts on the desktop. If so, navigate through the memory cards files to get your photos. Just drag them onto your hard drive.
Either method should work.

Thanks for the reply. Image capture didn't see the camera. It also didn't show up on the desktop. It only showed in the profiler as a storage device.
I finally heard from Panasonic. They said the USB drivers on the camera do not talk to Macs.
A quick trip to Comp USA for the $17.95 sd card reader by Dazzel solved the problem. The G-4 can now see the photos.

Repair disk permissions thru the Disk Utility. Check, with the System Profiler, if the card reader is recognized by the system. Try using Image Capture to see if it will recognize the card in the reader. Then run "fsck" while in the Single User Mode, reboot and repair disk permissions again.
Hope this has been of some help. Good luck.
