I added some album artwork to iTunes, and then I noticed that all those songs were updated on my iPod.
How much / what kind of info related to the artwork is transferred to the iPod? Not the whole graphic file?

The album cover art becomes a part of the music file and as a result, increases the size of the music file slightly, depending on the size and quality of the image. So whe you sync the iPod, its transferring the slightly larger music file onto it. I don't think its that big of a difference in size though, maybe just a few KB. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks, that's crystal clear!
Do you have any idea by how much? It may be an important factor, since my mini iPod is almost full.
I guess I can just add cover art to a large playlist, and compare pre/post sizes.

I'm not sure how much it increases by. Its probably dependent on the image file you're putting in there. The larger the picture or the higher the quality, the larger it would make the file. I'm guessing its around maybe 100 KB or less per image in a file. I have a mini too and I don't have any problem getting it close to the 1000 song promised storage with artwork on all my files. Its currently got about 960 songs. Plenty.
Edit:
Just checked one file, taking the artwork out reduced the file size by about 40 KB.
