Do you have broadband? A router? If the broadband connection and both computers hang off the router there is no problem.
Or are you talking about an internal modem? Not sure how that would work. If it's an external phone line modem, you could get a duplexer (possibly a source of interference?) or look for a switcher of some kind (try Radio Shack).

is this your setup? g5 connected to internet by phoneline, with an ethernet cable connecting the g5 to the powerbook?
then:
system preferences > sharing > internet. choose "share your connection from: internal modem" and then check "to computers using: built-in ethernet."
that should be it!
if you're using broadband, you should just get a router and connect both machines by ethernet to the router. (routers are cheap.)

Try to see if you have the firewall enabled on either of your computers. I'm not sure if MSN connects over port 80. Disabling the firewalls on your Internet gateway (ie. your computer thats connected to the internet) and your client computer should give you access to MSN regardless of what port its using. If you want to use the firewall, find out what port MSN is trying to use, then enter that port into the allowed ports in your firewall settings. You can access the firewall settings in the sharing system preferences.
