I've had the same problem too. Actually, MSN 3.0 was working fine for me, until I updated to OSX 10.1.5. Since then, MSN Messenger won't connect.

Any suggestions?

SUDDENLY - Starting 2 days ago using Earthlink Connection. (Mail - Browser, etc. all working fine). MSN Mensenger says something like - Can't Connent, You may Not Have an Internet Connection. MSN Mesenger was working fine for weeks!!! ACTIONS SO FAR: I reinstalled MSN Messenger, I reset my MSN Passport Password, Rebooted - STILL THE SAME DAMN MSG - THAT I CAN'T CONNECT TO MSN MESENGER - MAYBE YOU DON'T HAVE AN INTERNET CONNECTION. MSN Messenegr Site says all is up and running on their side. Please help if you can.

Also checked Earthlink Site to see if there are any MSN Messenger problems with that service (which I use) - couldn't find anything. Still trying to fix. images/icons/confused.gif images/icons/confused.gif

This is so wierd, my guess is that a bunch of people are having the same problem!!!

i do have an older version of MSN - version 2.10

that seems to work fine.

Oddly enough, I also can't connect to Limewire of Acquisition - but I can still surf the internet and use email and everything.

Do you think it's a bug in Jaguar?

If the problem has to do with the MSN app itself, I'd suggest you switch to blank>Proteus.

I'm assuming you still have normal internet access. For instance, you can still surf the web, but MSN won't connect, right?

I've run into problems with the MSN service similar to this. But I usually got disconnected after I connected. In your scenario, the situation sounds odd. Try re-entering your account info. Also, make sure your hotmail account is still active.

These are just suggestions.

I'm having the MSN Mseesnger problem in OSX 10.1.5 which I have been running since the update came-out - but the MSN Messenger problem just started 2 days ago. I have re-entered the sign-on INFO, reinstalled the program, and verified that my MSN Passport Password is working. I DON'T KNOW IF I HAVE A VALID HOTMAIL ACCT - WHY WOULD THAT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE?

Maybe Bill is celebrating April Fools Day on Labor Day. Its really strange - just suddenly stopped connecting 2 days ago!!!

Well, whether you have a Passport account or hotmail account, it doesn't make a big difference. You should still be able to tap into the network. I'm flummoxed myself as to why you can't get on. You could just create another MSN account, but then you'd have to re-enter your entire contact list and that would be a bear.

Assuming that version 2.1 worked fine before you installed version 3.0, I would switch back to that, or check out Proteus, which I provided the link for in a previous post.

Still won't work after 3 days now. Could it be an Earthlink problem? Is there any way to contact Microsoft? This is a PAIN!!!

These are my last few suggestions: (1) check in the preferences for MSN and make sure that you don't have the proxy server option selected under the "Connection" tab; (2) completely delete and re-install MSN; or (3) try connecting using an internet service other than earthlink (i.e. a simple PPP connection or DSL via your ethernet port).

I wish I could help, but it looks like there's a conflict coming from somewhere. Try contacting earthlink regarding the issue.

BTW, have you tried Proteus to see if it works?

Proteus is having problems with MSN too. It disconnects after a few minutes, re-connects and then disconnects again.

Interesting to note that my Windows friends appear to be having NO problems with MSN Messenger - only us MAC OSX folks. Mine just suddenly stopped working under 10.1.5 after I had been using it with no problems for weeks. I haven't shanged any settings and the proxy thing is definately OFF. I did reinstall already. No Joy!

Contacted Earthlink TECH LiveChat a few minutes ago - first they have heard of any MSN Messenger problems. They indicated they don't block any MSN Messenger traffic. Still a mystery!!!
