Time to remove OS 9 depends entirely on who you are and what you use your computer for.

At the moment I need OS9 to get my sound back on my pismo powerbook when it gets killed in 10.2, and sort out hard drive problems so I'm keeping it on.

Typhoon is right. This poll would be completely pointless. About as useful as saying "can we have a vote on if its time to remove VPC PLEASE?"

Unless you are seriously desperate for HD space, I would say it's still not worth removing it even if you don't use it.

Every so often there is an installer or a fix of some kind that requires booting into OS 9 or at least using classic. A clean OS 9 system folder takes up less than 300 mb of space. Unless you are using an older machine or powerbook (with a 10 GB or less drive), I'd say that the space you recover isn't worth the potential hassle of having to reinstall the one time you need it. Plus, it's safe to be able to dual boot in the event that something goes awry with OS X, preventing you from starting up. OS 9 isn't hurting anything just sitting there. At least that's my opinion (from someone who hasn't used classic in the last 6 months except to flash my video card).

I would get rid of 9, but I still have to go out and get the apps I use in Classic updated for X like Photoshop, Freeway, and Flash. Then I'd be happy. The other people that aren't ready for OS X completely yet is educators. Not much educational software is out for OS X yet.

Please forgive me if this sounds a little too harsh, but I think it needs to be said.

Why do you need someone else to tell you if you need a piece of software or not? Think for yourself. Do your homework, determine what apps you're using, and make your own decision based on your findings.

I do medical billing in Classic, but I need OS 9 to run MacBlast to transmit, so PLZ not yet...

Isn't there another thread just like this somewhere else on the boards? Either way, I'll repeat what I said there and up my message count.

I keep 9 around because sometimes booting into 9 is the easiest way to fix a problem in X.

I also have discovered that certain installers use 9. Case in point, when I downloaded some Macromedia MX products, the installer ran only in 9.

Not quite yet. Let's wait until Intuit releases QuickBooks 5. (Or whatever the OSX native version will be.)

Considering that OSX just went down in flames on my computer, I think OS9 is very useful still.
