When I did an initial install of Panther somehow or other I selected installlation
of printer drives of Printer(s) I do not own.
How do I remove those drives ?
Since I have just migrated from OS nine I'm not sure if I can just locate the
set of drives and trash them manually or do I use the OS X Panther
installer disks somehow ?

Applications>Utilities>Printer Setup Utility
Select the Printer You wish do Delete and hit Delete
If you wish to delete the drivers they are in Library>Printers

Is it safe to just go to Library>Printers and select/delete those drivers ?
The reason I ask is that I've been told that OS X does not like it
when files get trashed without permission to do that. As I said I am very new to
OS X and I have already done things that has brought me grief.

Yes it's safe to delete the printer drivers that you are not using, however if you feel uncomfortable doing it just leave them alone. They cause no harm and take up little space. Did you delete your unused printer in Printer Setup Utility? That is sufficient.
