Starting, I think, last month downloads from Bank of America (California) no longer have payee descriptors, only a generic description. Anyone else have this problem?

BofA downloads on the east coast all come up with the right payee, but some random category, this month it was Auto for some reason, last month it was Groceries. I can't seem to find a BofA employee with any grasp of technology newer than a pen, so I've given up attempting to contact them. It's a shame that with so much possibility to empower their customers at their fingertips, they simply can't be bothered to ensure that their online system actually works.

It was a pain the ass today to go through all of my BofA downloaded "payee non-descriptor" fields alongside my paper bank statement re-typing the payee fields for all my transactions.
Intuit ought to get together with BofA to work out download file formats. If Intuit got BofA, Citibank and Washington Mutual right, they would not have much else to worry about.

Well, there's the problem - it's not something Intuit can control. The banks have to choose to make their sites, filetypes and data format compatible. Intuit can offer their info and resources, but it's kind of like leading a horse to water - the only thing that will make the banks care enough to make that effort is pressure from their customers. I find it especially distressing that BofA is pushing to do away with paper statements and check returns, when they haven't worked out all the bugs with their electronic procedures yet.
