I recently upgraded to a new 1.25G eMac, from my old, 800M eMac. The old machine was running 10.2.8 and iPhoto2. New machine 10.3.3 and iPhoto 4. I had my old (iPhoto 2) library backed up to a DVD I made using iPhoto2 for the burn. When I attempted to restore from this DVD, what I got was :
1) Lost all roll data. Pictures are in one huge clump.
2) Many photos show up 2,3, or even 4 times at unusual intervals thoughout the library. My old library was just over a thousand photos. After restore, it showed up with WELL over 2000 pictures with the dupes.
3) Lost all albums.
4) Lost many pictures (though none critical)
Is there a procedure that I am missing for getting this info into iPhoto 4 correctly from this DVD?

Migrating to iPhoto 4

There were problems with people who had iPhoto 1 and then upgraded to iPhoto 2 and then to iPhoto 4.
Try this:
move the iPhoto library folder onto the desktop (or some other location), restart iPhoto and then reimport the files into a new library. This causes all albums to be lost, but seems to work.
I hear the problem is a lack of disk space, so if the above doesn't help, you may want to get some more disk space and reimport from your DVD. This is what I would do. iPhoto 4 apparently uses a lot more spaced for caching.
