A little background first. I work for a printer that has been doing several publications for years now. Going all the way back to OS7.5.We have been using the same client supplied fonts in ATM the entire time without a hitch. Fast forward to now and a client who wants to switch to OS X and continue to use the same fonts. In Suitcase, when we go to activate the fonts and although they activate none of the characters look right. in fact in the sample window all we see are characters that can best described as some sort of an alien script. This would all be great if we were trying to write a science fiction movie but sucks since this is a financial trade magazine. This is really starting to become a major pain in the keister.
Any ideas, suggestions etc. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

ATM only works in classic OS. What OS is the client using? What application(s) and OS are you using? More info will get answers.

I have had some font issues similar to that myself recently. What would happen is that when I received art with older fonts, and would try to activate them in Suitcase using OS X, they wouldn't work or even load. If I opened the art in Classic, or on a machine running pure OS 9 and ATM, things were fine. Because I had the option of using the older system, I didn't need to fuss with it. But you may want to try a utility like Font Doctor and see if it could remedy the situation.
Hope this helps...

Here is a link. Don't know if that would help though.

The client is using Quark 6 in OS X
I'm not sure what they are using for font management.
We are using Quark 6 in OS X and using suitcase for font management.
ATM is not an option since it does not run in X.
The client got theirs to print ok or so they said.
Is ther anything better or other than suitcase to manage fonts in X?

Someone else has just suggested that the problem could be a bad font cache.
I was told to go to macupdate.com and download Cache out X
After doing this all seems well now with the fonts They look and print fine

Font Doctor should have been included with your Suitcase (if not, ask them to send it to you ASAP). Run "diagnose & repair fonts" on the suspect fonts & they will be upgraded to PS Type 1. Hopefully they will work then.
