The CD-ROM has died on our 400MHz Power Mac G4 running OS 9.1. What do I need to look for (interface type, etc.) in selecting a replacement drive?

LOOKIE HERE FIRST !
Use the database to search for user reports for any brand & model that you are considering to purchase..........litterally 1000's of reports /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
3 key factors to keep in mind:
A) Bootable, for OS installs and emergencies....
B) Burn support for Finder/iTunes
C) Driver availibility for OS 9.xx
I would highly recommend that you spring for a fast CD-RW or possibly even a DVD/CD-RW combo drive while shopping, since you're gonna have to do the same amount of work in the removal/install process anyway.....
