My bank has just come into the current century and decided to support Macs! So, now I have Quicken set to download transactions, and all is well (actually, still learning all the features, but getting there). This morning I reconciled an account, and when finished, got a message that Quicken will automatically reconcile on download. Sounds interesting, so thought I would pose a couple of questions to the group before I take that plunge.
Does anyone out there do this? Do you like it or not? What's good about it, and what's bad. And, if I decide to try this, can I turn it off easily and go back to the old way of reconciling?
Any help and info is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

No problem. Not Bank of America, AmSouth Bank. I'm very glad they FINALLY got with the mac thing. When I bought my iBook two years ago, I had to buy VPC to use MS Money, and I hated it. Went to Quicken because of that dislike for anything MS (though I have to continue to use it daily at work!). Finally in May the bank saw the light. When I call, they seem to be pretty well versed in mac, but apparently only have one machine. They always say they will go to the mac and call me back.
Don't know why BOA won't get on the bandwagon!
Good luck! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I tried it once and decided I preferred the old fashioned way of reconciling against my paper (or PDF) statements... a personal preference I guess. I don't remember it being difficult to switch back so there should be no problem if you try it and don't like it.

personally, I wouldn't touch it (auto-reconcile). I've had too many problems with things like matching downloaded transactions to trust Quicken - and that goes for both Mac and Win versions. Besides, going through the paper statement is a good refresher of my spending, and has even helped me catch the card companies signing me up for some service or another I didn't want.
