I just picked up the brand new 12" Powerbook G4 1.33Ghz with an upgraded 512Mb of RAM. I would think that this laptop is more than capable enough to run the "Unreal Tournement 2004 Demo" smoothly but it really doesn't. Even with all of the eye candy settings turned off, it still plays choppy. Any idea?

Are you running the latest version of the demo? An early version ran really bad on single processor machines.

I downloaded it as soon as I got my powerbook which was about 2 weeks ago. I will check when I go home and I will download another game demo to try it out as this beast should be running games more than smooth.

If I remember right, you'll want to modifiy the file:
~/Library/Application Support/Unreal Tournament 2004 Demo/System/UT2004.ini

In the section labeled [ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem] look for:
Channels=32
Change it to:
Channels=8
I can't remember the gaming site where I found the hint, but it made a HUGE difference playing the UT2K4 demo on both my Macs!
Also edit:
CacheSizeMegs=32
in the [Engine.GameEngine] section so that it matches the amount of video RAM on your video card ( I set mine to 64).

hmmm...You should have permission to modify files in the Library in your Home directory. What is the alert that you're getting?

Well I open the file with the "Console" and I am able to see everything you are talking about and highlight certain areas, but it won't let me delete or write over anything. Should I be opening the file with a different program?

Hi
I would asume you should be opening and editing it with TextEdit.
