I have an iBook 700. I have applecare. It has just begun to exhibit a problem, seems the screen will dim momentarily. Occurs infrequently, but very annoying. I did a search for this post title, but nothing listed, although I'm sure I've seen this topic somewhere.
At any rate, I'm going to contact Apple about this.
Any advice on the how's and where's to do this? Call Applecare? RTF, I know. Still, any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Henry

Does it dim then come right back or stay dim? If it stays dim, then you need to change you Energy Saving settings. That is a feature to increase the life of the display.

It dims and then comes right back to it's original brightness. The dimming last only a second or less, but is occuring more frequently, about every 5 to 10 seconds.

Does it seem to flicker at times. There was once a problem with the Powerbooks where the cable that connected the LCD backlight to the motherboard would get damaged (as a result of being squeezed between the screen hinge). This caused the backlight to flicker on and off. I had this particlar problem with first gen PB Titanium 400. If this is the case, you will need to send the notebook to Apple for repair. Its a minor problem so shouldn't take too long (dont know if iBooks ever had this problem, or if this is the problem with your machine).

I do remember the powerbook problem being mentioned in a forum before, don't recall it being an iBook problem, till now. Will give Applecare a chance to correct the problem.
