I love the new PDF browser in Panther, but don't like it's generic icon that looks just like the icons for jpegs, tiff's etc. I want to be able to change the default icon for PDF's to the Adobe PDF icon yet still have the files open up in Preview, and not in Acrobat since it takes so long to launch. Does anyone know if this can be done?
Thanks for any help,
John

Do this in the Terminal:
Figuring out where to find the icon from Acrobat Reader is left as an exercise to the reader.

code:
% cp /Applications/Preview.app/Contents/Resources/pdf.icns /Applications/Preview.app/Contents/Resources/pdf.icns_BAK
% cp /path/to/acrobat/icon.icns /Applications/Preview.app/Contents/Resources/pdf.icns

I like CandyBar also. It's really easy to use. I do wish I could find copies of the old OS 9 trash cans (empty & full) so I could switch my OS X trash icons back to those older ones. I just liked that little trash can with the lid! Anyone know where I can find them? I haven't seen them in any of the CandyBar collections.

speaking of lost icons, my lacie d2 external hard drive came with icon files that looked just like the drive itself. forgot to make a copy of the icon before i reformatted it a couple of months ago, and i haven't been able to find it since. so if anyone happens to have it, i'd be forever grateful if you sent it to gyroscope4 [AT] gmail [DOT] com. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
