Hi everyone -
I've been cleaning up my computer over the last couple of days, getting rid of unwanted files etc. - and I'm curious to find out how to delete picture folders I added to the Desktop/Screensaver menu in the Preferences menu...
Certain picture folders don't even exist on my computer anymore, and the menu doesn't give me an option to delete them. Is there a certain file hidden somewhere which I should reset/delete to revert this menu back to its original form?
Thanks a lot for your help!

I see there's no reply to this post, so I'll try. Did you run the OSX install disk and run Disk First Aid to repair the disk and disk permissions? Is this OSX? What version?
If this is still a problem, lst us know.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I did run Disk First Aid and all disk permissions are in order.
I also checked whether I'd have the same problem on my desktop, which also runs OSX 10.3.4. Let me walk you through my problem:
- I create a folder containing pictures named "Delete Me" for instance
- in the Desktop/Screensaver menu, I click on "Choose Folder" and select the "Delete Me" folder
- I then decide I don't want the "Delete Me" folder to be in my Desktop image folder list any longer and try the following:
a) I select the "Delete Me" folder and hit the delete button and/or the "del" button
b) try to move the folder out of the window
c) try to find a "delete" option in the System Preference's "Edit" menu...
None of these work. And I challenge all readers here that they won't be able to, either. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I simply don't think Apple thought to include this function in this particular menu. But perhaps there's a way to refresh this list by deleting a system file assigned to this particular menu? Please HELP!
Thanks everybody!

I figured out a solution myself!
I simply searched for files on my computer containing the word "desktop" and tracked down the file:
com.apple.desktop.plist
It is located inside my Home -> Library -> Preferences folder...
I then DELETED it.
It was well worth the risk. Now you can be assured all the picture folders of your ex girlfriend are safely gone from your computer.
I encourage Apple to make this option more user-friendly in the future, as the Desktop menu won't delete already deleted folders automatically.
Thanks for your time and attention!
