i just bought powermac G3 266 with os9 installed i want to reinstall os9 over it do i need to back up the drivers. it a desk top G3 all devices are integrated into the mother board should i back up or not.

If the disks you have are the ones that came with this model (beige G3?), then there will be no need to back up the drivers. They'll be included for anything that came with it originally. However, you might want to check the websites for the articles you're talking about and see if new drivers are available.

Actually, the Beige G3's came with Mac OS 8.0. OS 9 did come with Macs until the G4 (Gigabit Ethernet). So, the OS 9 install CD's that rdelong1 has may have been included with the G3 when he bought it from its previous owner, but they didn't come with the computer originally. (Ok, ok, I know. Enough picking at nits. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif)
That being written, all version of 9 from 9.0 to that last version of 9.1 were meant to run on Macs as old as the original Power Macs (viz., the x100 series). Therefore, the latest version of OS 9 should contain the latest drivers for all of the devises that came standard or as build to order options on all compatible Macs.
