How do you get your stereo to pick up your music from iTunes using Airport Express? I assume that since Airport Express broadcasts using radio waves, you would just have to tune your stereo in. Is this about right? Is there a certain station or would you just have to search for it?
Thanks,
Donald

actually, not at all. airport express communicates with your machine using the 802.11g standard. although i've heard that it's approximately the same frequency used by many 2.4ghz cordless telephones, the communication is encoded. (... and can your stereo actually tune up to 2.4 ghz?) the idea is that you connect the airport express to your stereo with an actual wire, and your computer upstairs communicates with the airport express wirelessly.

It works quite well. You need to purchase a stereo connection kit that Apple also sells that has a set of Monster cables. You connect your Airport Express into your stereo, then when you open iTunes, you will see a box on the bottom right corner that allows you to choose playing iTunes wirelessly from your computer to your stereo. That's it. I have to hit my aux button on my stereo. I have two Aiport Exress units that are acting as a bridge for better Airport connections throughout my home and of course to play iTunes through my stereo. I have also taken one with me and used in my hotel room, and that also works as advertised. A great little item it is.

They might want you to believe that, but you don't NEED to buy the kit from Apple--any minijack or mini-optical cable that can connect to your stereo on the other end should work fine.

Yeah but Derik, it was such a cool box! But seriously it also included an Airport Express power cord, mini stereo to dual RCA Monster cable, and a mini optical digital to digital Toslink Monster cable, all of course colored to match your Powerbook and Airport Express. Worth every penny to me! Support your local Apple store. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
