i'm sorry, the confusion is that there are two of you with different setups that are talking about sort of related problems. lkalliance, here is a recent discussion that i think is relevant to your case. Macpaul, if dvdbackup wasn't able to create a decrypted videots folder then i'm stuck.
sorry for the confusion.

Hi
As far as Version Tracker states, this is the installer for Apple's DVD Player (4.0) for Panther.
Maybe try to install and run it.

Apple PowerBook G4 Titanium 1GHz, 1GB, 60GB, SuperDrive, Airport, Mac OS X, 20GB iPod (4G)

No Macpaul, the solution has been written in the post, but because of cross-post I guess you can't see it:
- Download DVDBackup on the comp with DVD-Drive.
- Use DVDBackup to get a DECRYPTED copy of the videots folder on that mac.
- copy that folder by whatever network to your other mac (the one you want to watch it on).
- EITHER: download the dvd player software from versiontracker (link posted above) OR download "vlc" from versiontracker, vlc is an EXCELLENT program to play any kind of videos, it will, amoungst others, play videots folder
- Use the software you chose to watch the video_ts folder as a video....
Thats it.

Maybe you have the answer already but i just found your thread and thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. With disk images I have made, I usually double click them and then it mounts the disc on the desktop. After that, I open the DVD player and it begins.
I have used DVDBackup to put a copy of a commercial DVD on my harddrive, not for pirating purposes by the way, and for this I usually... Open DVD player first, go to FILE and then OPEN VIDEO_TS FOLDER. I then navigate to that folder and select it, then click ok. After that I must click play and the DVD begins playing. No problems at all.
I didn't really read through all of the responses in this thread but I didn't catch anyone suggesting these methods so hopefully this will work. If someone already posted these answers, sorry about the reiteration.

Thank you! I had tried just that but missed the fact that I had to click play in DVD player's window. I said it had to be simple /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The 'solution' was someone reading what my problem was and giving me the 'ANSWER' without all this suggesting that I needed more software to 'decrypt' my own video and more 'non Apple' software to do what native apps should be able to do if I only had the knowledge to implement them. Thanks to 'gnetsurpher' !! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
