A lot of sights ask you if you want to use real player or windows media player. If I don't want to download either, does apple have a program that will play these files? If so, how do I use it.
Thanks.

VLC or Mplayer (both non-apple) will play Windows Media files encoding with most encoding (not the newest WMV 9 though), but not RealVideo files.
I would just go and download the applications though. They're both small, harmless, and won't try to take over your machine. Windows Media Player has a really crappy interface, but RealPlayer is actually a pretty decent video player, with some features I wish Apple would implement.

RealPlayer for Windows is full of spyware and ads- the Mac version is actually pretty good. Simple, doesn't pop up and bother you, doesn't run in the background, etc.

Actually RP 10 for windows has improved in a major way in that area.
Also winamp for Mac v .71 will play everything except .rma files Those I am not aware of anything except an editor that will play them.
Amadeus on a Mac and Cool Edit on a PC will play RP files.

Still. Any Windows program installs stuff all over the hard drive. I don't feel like installing ANOTHER media player...
However, the Mac version is a single icon. You don't want it? Trash it. No dang uninstaller- no extra effort.
I hate Windows...WHY must I use it? WHY???
